RedWall The title of the book I am reading is RedWall .This book is written by an author named Brian Jaques. This is a very thick book with 351 pages. I chose this book because my brother read it and recommended and I thought that the lead was very interesting and exciting .I also love the kind of books that have animals that can talk and have a regular life and go about with friends and family like they were humans themselves. Plus I think its cool that the mice in the book use medieval weapons and live in castles.
The main character in RedWall is a orphaned mouse named Matthias. He is a senior commander in the RedWall army and is the only on that is skilled with a sword. Plus his ancestor is Martin the Warrior who was the greatest warrior that ever lived in Mossflower (which is their country). He inherited Martin the Warriors legendary sword which can never rusts and will never get dull. He wishes to become just as good as Martin and with the support of his friends I believe he can. Matthia’s arch enemy is a rat known only as Cluny the Scourge. People believe that he is the offspring of the devil himself and will not stop until he conquers all. He is the meanest rat to ever live and has a whip like tail that is deadly when he put a poison barb on the end of it. He will stop at nothing until he conquers RedWall and renames it Cluny Castle and has killed Matthias and all his friends.
They main characters are trying to recover Martin the Warrior’s armor and weapons while they try desperately to defend RedWall. They have to outsmart Cluny and get a piece of ancient weaving back which Cluny stole right out of the Abbey. Cluny has many attempts put in into play trying to get into the Abbey. Here are only some first he tries to jump from a tree to the ramparts next he tries to use a battering ram third he tries to tunnel in and he also used a siege tower but he finally got inside in the end and Matthias and him had an epic battle which ended when they battle in the bell tower and Matthias cut the bell down and it landed on Cluny.
I give this book five out of five stars because of its action and adventure theme. I would also recommend this book to anyone who loves action, adventure, talking animals, and great big battles with lots of bloodshed. This is a book for kids that don’t just read to read but read to enjoyed and learn more and have a very active imagination. I believe anyone would like this book as long as they open there mind and imagine everything going on as if u are right there watching everything happen.
